I think im going to buy this unit.

My current setup is pretty ghetto and im not getting what i want

Samson MDR 1064 mixer
running line out to line in threw my creative augity 2 zs

My mics i use are:
sm57
and 3 akg dd70s

I dunno what to expect from this unit but i contacted sweetwater and they seemed to say this would be a very nice solution.

My computer specs:
amd 3200+ barton
Corsair xms pc3200proxl (1-1-1-2) low latency ram
1 75 gig western digital harddrive (system drive)
120 gig western digital harddrive (music storeage)
120 gig western digital harddrive (:D)

Ive heard recordings used for this and they sound amazing. Im also going to buy some monitors since mixing on my computer sound system is nothing far of horrid and the outcoming tracks make me vomit.

Anyone own or have used this machine? Please drop a line in here thanks.

I think it's a good piece for the money. The pre's aren't Avalon's, but they do sound pretty damn good.

yeah for the money i heard the preamps in this are killer. i mean if you listen to this

you can see it sucks ass (mixed on computer speakers).

im hoping to jump up a few levels with this very nice peice of equipment

nice can you please post some songs you did with a list of equipment used :D

Here you go

Drums were recorded with a couple of condensors overhead, 57 on the snare, cheapo kick mic;
Guitars & keys recorded through a 57 on a Fender combo.

And of course the firepod

* also ill be micing a jcm 2000 for my gutiar songs and my drum kit is a mapex mars series i dunno if that really matters its a decent set.

Obviously a good source, good mics, good placement, and a good performance will help. :P

(Not knocking you or anything. Just getting it out there. ;))

Well

Another happy firepod owner here, the thing rocks period, for the money its awsome.

I picked up the Firepod a few months back and have been experimenting with it along with Cubase SX3. And I got to tell ya... coming from the old Roland 1680, this thing is awesome. The pre's are awesome for the price of the unit. In fact, I just picked up a second one and will be experimenting with 2. I would highly recommend this unit!!
