presonus firepod question

hey all, I have a home recording setup and I'm currently working with:

AT4040 condensor
UA-25 usb interface
Roland MMP-2 mic pre
KRK monitors

I'm not too happy with the interface and I want to move up to better quality.
I've been looking at the presonus firepod because of the price and the amount of i/o. how does the quality match up to the more expensive units like the motu or a digi 002? will it be a big step up from the edirol unit i have ? also, im also looking into a new mic, the Blue Bluebird, would that and the firepod be a good pair up? thanks in advance.

I run a digi002r on a regular basis, and I would say that the Firepod quality of A/D and Preamps is the same or better.

It's probably the best in its class, next step up in conversion would be something like the Apogee AD800 or similar units.
