Ok, so I have a cheap $100 presonus pretube and an M-audio Tampa I use to record vocals. I'm pretty happy with the sound. Now my Tampa went out and I just couldn't afford to not have anything while it was out getting services. So I hear so many good things about how the Eureka is so great for vocals so I figure i'll buy one, test it out til my tampa gets back, if i like it, i'll keep it. Well it's been like 3 weeks and I STILL CANT GET IT TO SOUND RIGHT!!! I know I must be doing something wrong or overlooking something. I usually record rap vocals and some R&B. I must say that the R&B stuff I recorded sounded VERY GOOD. I just don't get it. I'm using a GT 67 microphone which sounded good with my previous set up so I can't imagine it's the mic. Anyone have any presets that they use particularly to record rap vocals I can try. My next step is to have a rapper come in to test it with me. I've done this before but only spent about a half hour trying to get it right. Any suggestions?!?

Suggestions? Maybe sell the Eureka and get something else?

IMO, they were right in putting "reek" in the name of that product. icky.

LOL....I hear ya. Funny thing about it is that I alread made a dumb purchase by getting those damn M-Audio Bx8s based on reviews from people online and when I got them, the bass was pretty good, not that I needed extra since I have a KRK sub, but the mids on the Bx8's SUCKED. Got some KRK 8's and it's like I have a whole new studio. I'm thinking I might take you're advice and return it. Hopefully I still have time!

I have a presonus TubePre, and a Eureka, alogn with a couple of other preamps and to tell you the truth, I don't think the tubepre and the eureka sound much different...

The only think the eureka has going for it, is the built compression and EQ...

.....

Well, I already have the Tube pre and my Tampa just got back so I just might have $500 to spend on some new gear. Funny thing is I got a rebate for the AD card that hasn't come in. What happens if I return the eureka? Oh well.....

I found something it does real well. I used it as a DI for tracking bass, and it sounds REAL good.

My bass player wants to get one now, just to use as a Bass DI.

I owned one for about a year and didn't like it on anything but snare and di'd bass. Always seemed way too thin, I'd recommend the Joe Meek 3Q over the Eureka any day.
