Is the DigiMAX LT worth the $200 more than the Octane for recording drum tracks via lightpipe into a Digi002? I guess it's a question of the pre-amp quality?
Is the DigiMAX LT worth the $200 more than the Octane for recording drum tracks via lightpipe into a Digi002? I guess it's a question of the pre-amp quality?
I considered both the DigiMax and Octane, and I went with the Octane. The price was one reason, I couldn't find anybody discounting the Digimax much below $799, on the other hand the Octane was going for about $470.
The other factor was the advertised gain for DigiMax is 40db vs. 50db for Octane, both pretty low to begin with.
Pre-amp quality? I don't know how they would compare, probably very similar at this price range. I do know the Octane uses Burr Brown opamps, and I like it for what it is, clean sound for $60/preamp. I'm not sure about the DigiMax quality, could be just as good or better.
