can anyone tell me how good are the pre amps on this unit, and have they compared them to a well known name like focusrite or avalon etc?
also would there be any latencey with this setup?
main desk i have the digi 002 i want to add the personus for more pres to mic up drums so the presonus will run into the digi 002 via light pipe adat.
also i was thinking of getting the alesis AI3 to run my outboards into mainly reverbs, 3 reverb units and one eq will this bring latencey, the alesis will go into the 002 via lightpipe adat, or should i just use the presonus for this as they would be doing the same job except the presonus will have the pre amps and i really dont want pre amps for my hard ware units. the presonus and the alesis would never be plugged in at the same time there is only 1 adat input on the 002. is getting the alesis just an exspenive way to save climbing behind the gear to plug in out boards?
one last question now the end setup i want is (for mic pres)
i will have the 002 as the main desk, i want the personus digimax using the light pipe adat conections, then i will get a focusrite penta going into channel 5 and then a focusrite voice master pro going into channel 6,
i would like to use the penta for the kick mic the voicemaster hopefully would sound good with the snare the toms and hats would use the presonus and the over heads would use either the 002 or the presonus pres depending on what sounded better, with this setup will i have any trouble or will it be clear sailing and the only troubles i will have is tuning the drums and getting mic placment?
sorry to go on, im just i bit confused with what i want to expand onto wth my studio, to me in theory this should work no problems, its just you never know and something in there might not work how i want it.
