I'm looking for a new pre for my Mics, and I was wondering what you guys thought of the bluetube DP for the price? I usually see it around $175, is it worth it/does anyone have any experience with it?

I think general consensus would be in that price range go with the M-Audio DMP3, Studio Projects VTB1 or Rane MS1B.

I'd agree with the above post. If that's your budget area, go for th M-Audio DMP3, Studio Projects VTB1 or Rane MS1B.

I had a blue tube (older one) and blue tube DP. Both fine pres for the money, the older ones sounds a little bit darker and fatter and the DP sounds a little bit cleaner, but i found the DP didn't have lots of gain which could be a problem with quiet sound sources... The older ones had more gain but are a little noisier too.

I ended up getting a Studio Projects pre from someone on the board for $60, but thanks anyways guys!

The VTB-1 is a nice pre for the price. Used to own a couple of them.

Ya, I was thinking if I like it to get another and use them for my overheads too.

Ditto......

And on that note, is it worth getting a "tube" (yeah i know, it's not really a tube) pre for drums (like snare, toms, bass, etc.)?
