Hello - I purchased a Bluetube(old style, led meters) on ebay as my first preamp. I liked it, but as many others have found, i found it to be a bit noisy. Recently a whole new level of noise has started, so I did a little investigating. THinking i would replace the tube to see if that helped I opened the box. The tube was only about halfway in the seat! I removed, and then reset the tube, pushing it down so that none of the pins length could be seen between the seat and the glass of the tube. VOILA! NO NOISE! I mean none...I was tolerant of a low hiss that showed @ 10
clock on the tube gain on both channels b/c I liked the warmth it gave my mics, but now, it is NICE! Don't know if what i did was right or not, but who can argue with results? Don't despair Bluetubers....
