Do you guys recommend recording my instrument tracks (bass, guitar, vox) into mono tracks, or stereo tracks before i mix down to the final stereo track?(using nuendo 1.6)

I don't see the point in doubling a mono track unless you have some specific effect in mind. Much simpler to record a mono source in mono and then pan it as desired in the mix.

That said, I record POD tracks as a stereo pair because the effects internal to the POD create a true stereo output.

The output of a single, mono mic does not.

BTW: welcome to the board. I've been out Yucaipa way. Nice town if you have good A/C. :)

Well does running the mic to the mixer which has stereo outs count as a good reason to record stereo?

Yeah Yucaipa is nice. Many music going on here. hehe

Nope. Not unless you are submixing a couple of mics and panning them. Some people do that for drums if they only have a few recording tracks to work with.

You should be using direct outs or the inserts to send the channel from the mixer to the recorder anyway. That bypasses a lot of extra circuitry that only adds noise anyway.
