No matter what i do cool edit opens saying that a previous session was exited prematurely. Then, i am able to play a session but the play bar doesn't move and the program becomes unresponsive. i have recently switched from a delta omni studio to a 1010, and am running both. could there be a hardware conflict?

happened to me as well, was told by users on this board to change my Temp folder, sure enough it worked. good luck.

i just made a new temp folder... cause the other one was in a loop because i had a power outage during one of my sessions. i have a UPS back up now so that wont happen again.

Where did you put the new temp folder? Do you have two hard drives?

i just changed my temp folder (i only have one drive) and it didn't seem to help. but i've narrowed in on the problem a bit more.

it seems the problem is with the session files. i am naming them all untitled.ses, not sure if that is a problem. but when i open an old session that is untitled, it is unresponsive. however, the files from the session can be opened in a new session and played successfully.

Actually it sounds like it could very well be Windows.

Windows 95/98/ME suck at handling .tmp files.

If it happens again, look in the temp folder and delete EVERYTHING. If windows needs a certain file, it will be sure to tell you ;)

P.S. With older versions of Windows you should actually boot to a command prompt every now and then and "deltree" the C:\Windows\temp folder and recreate it...

Everytime a program crashes it tends to leave behind any .tmp files related to it... after a while Windows starts acting like it's going senile :p --- And more and more programs start crashing.
