So im setting up my little recording experiment at home and my list of things to be purchased so far is a Shure sm57 mic and a Berhinger modulizer pro. I am keeping it cheap. So my question is, for vocals recording, and I am going to be recording into my computer, what kind of preamp do you reccomend on a budget?

art tube opl - $59
Delta dmp3 - $119
Studio projects vtb1 - $129

pre amp I use

I use the 2 channel blue tube by PreSonus.
When I do vox, I use a v93m mogami condenser mic in one channel and then I use an sm57 in the other channel at once.
This gives me the option of two different sounds out of the mics and mixing them together as I like.
The blue tube will run you about $150 to $170. The extra channel over a single channel pre amp is well worth spending the bucks for.

I'm on a tight budget too, and use the M-audio AudioBuddy. It's has 2 channels. $79
I'm sure it's not the best thing out there, but it's good to start out with, and the price is right.

You could also try the new Behringer tube ultra gain mic100. I think they are $39

Good luck to ya.

Does having two channels allow to record from 2 different sources? Cause right now I am only recording vocals so if thats the case an extra channel is not necessary. Someone did tell me that the shure57 wont sound good w/o a good preamp though. I also have a beringher modulizer pro i do not kno how to use! fun! :D
