For use with phantom power condensers, is the Maudio DMP3 a step up from the preamps built in to the Yamaha MG mixers?

thanks

Considering that the DMP3 is sold as a 2 in /out preamp and cost about as much as a yamaha mg10/4, I'd have to say the DMP3 is better overall at what it was designed to do. I own a DMP3 and it gives a lot of gain and doesn't add any color that I can detect. Moreover, I'm having an mg12/4 on backorder right now, so I'll let you know what the difference is.

Edit: Whoops, I read your question as "Which one is better". I'm not sure if the DMP3 is a step up that's worthwhile if you already have an mg mixer, as it is better, but not one of those higher end preamps.

much the same

I have owned and used both items. I used a couple of dmp3's to record drums for a couple years. these work well. then bought as yamaha mg 12 mixer just to control my monitors. I dunno if its my ears or what, but I can't really notice any difference to my recordings when I use the yamaha preamps. theres nothing wrong with the yamaha pres if your like me and just do home recording for fun and are using semi cheap mics and stuff. You can achieve pretty good demo quality band recordings with nothing more than the Yamaha and some half decent mics, and a decent recording space.
cheers
