Preamp for ATM41HE?

Hi,

I have an old ATM41HE mic that's still in good condition. It records fine directly into a crappy sound card with an XLR-1/4" adapter, but I am looking at options for a preamp and something like the M-Audio Fast Track Pro would be ideal considering it provides a MIDI port which my laptop completely lacks.

Given that I'm technically clueless when it comes to electronic equipment, I can't really make sense of the following (I know what ohms, dB, and volts are but I'm failing to see how to make an informed choice when you put it all together):

The ATM41HE specs say:

OPEN CIRCUIT SENSITIVITY: -51 dB (2.8 mV) re 1V at 1 Pa
IMPEDANCE: 600 ohms

And the M-Audio preamp specs (Microphone Input) say:

Input Impedance 2.7k Ohms unbalanced, 5.4k Ohms balanced
Maximum Input Level from +24dBu @ min gain, pad on to -40dBu @ max gain, no pad
Channel-to-Channel Crosstalk < -110dB
SNR -101dB, A-weighted
Dynamic Range 101dB, A-weighted
THD+N 0.005% (-86dB) @ -1dBFS, 1kHz
Frequency Response 20Hz to 20kHz, +/- 0.1dB
Pre-amp Gain >40dB
Pad -20dB pad

I can't find anything on the web that really explains how to properly match a mic with a preamp, so I'm wondering both the simple "will these two items work together?" and the more complicated "what exactly should I look at to determine if a preamp can sufficiently amplify a given microphone?"

Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance:-)
