I posted this already in the keyboard section but got no response so I'll try here as somebody may have experienced this.
My band wants to play "No More Tears" (Ozzy) but have no keyboards (nor do we know anybody who plays) Does anybody know where I could get them pre recorded so we could play along with the track?
Has anybody done this live in similar situations?

Please don't. Please, please don't.

I had a feeling somebody would say that. It's just that one tune I love playing. Is it that much of a pain in the ass or just considered lame?

Listen to the BLS version of it and you'll likely find you won't need the keyboards.

My suggestion would be to creatively work around it or find a way to recreate a reasonable interpretation of that part with whatever instruments are actually in the band. I've done that kind of thing many times!

If its just the keyboard part how are ya planning on syncing it up to live drums?

Yea, check out Black Label Society's version of it. They use clean guitar instead.

I was thinking of having just a click track for the drummer but I know its a pain in the ass.
Good plan on the BLS version though!! I heard it a little while ago but apparently wasn't paying enough attention. Thanks for the info all! :)

I've done that before... But I play in an Industrial band and there are only three of us. All of our ambient/synth/electronic drum parts are recorded. The ONLY reason I do that is because I would need another 5-6 people in order to get all of the parts played live. My suggestion would be to find another way around it, it can be a real pain in the ass. If you are absolutely intent on doing it, you'll need to play to a click or have incredible monitors. Gotta be honest with you, you step into a whole new realm when you start playing to a live color track.

I frigging HATE playing to prerecorded tracks. My band has suggested that and I refuse to. It's not live music.

Get your guitar to do it. Guitars are such amazing instruments and can do almost ANYTHING if played the right way (and with the right effects). Or even a guitar synth is doable.

Play your music. Playing to a prerecorded track, and your music is playing you.

Talked to my drummer today and we're gonna wing it on our own. Listened to the BLS version again and its pretty deadly buy way lower and meaner than I was planning to take it. I think we can do it up pretty cool though. Thanks for the response

hey, post a recording of it when you are done. I love that song, I would love to hear a different take on it.
