i was wanting to get some suggestions on a good pre amp for my delta 1010 card. i will need four imputs and i also suggestions on a good lead mic which will be used for vocals only and backup mics(i was thinking the sm57's). any help would be greatly appreciated and im not trying to break the bank.

thanks,

Hey GUdge,

How 4 of those Meek 3's, that's 4 bills and a mxl67...another $150

my budget would be about 400 mics & 300 for mixer

thanks

ok you want lead vocals and backing vocals only?.....

yes thats all i want is 4 mics, im not playing anything live

$300 would put you into a Mackie 1202VLZ which has to be the highest rated cheap mixer on the market. I have not heard them personally, but the word is that the VLZ preamps (4 of them on the 1202) are certainly usable.

Why do you want "backup mics." I don't quite understand that. What exactly are you planning on recording?

On an aside, it sure would be cool if Mackie would bundle some of those VLZ pres minus the mixer to compete in the cheapo preamp market.

Slackmaster 2000

i would get

a Delta Dmp3 preamp and a Marshall mxlv67 to start out with...that will set u back about $325......

if you arent gonna cut the backgound vocals at the same as the lead, you could do with just that......

or if you wanna blow your budget get a Grace 101 and a Marshall mxlv67 ($559 + $129)

if you have to cut the background vocals at the same time at the same time, id get

2 Delta dmp3's
1 Marshall mxl v67
2-3 of the cheaper Marshall vocal mics....like the mxl1006's
