Pre amps and USB interfaces

How's it going every body? happy election day.
I'm trying to get a new interface as well as a pre amp. what are some decent products i should look into? i'm using maschine on a macbook pro. I want pretty decent quality in both however the most i want to spend is 500 for both items. The biggest thing is QUALITY of sound and simplicity (easy to use and install). Any help would be appreciated guys.

What do you plan to record, how many simultaneous channels do you want, and how come you want an interface and separate preamp?

There are plenty of interfaces with decent enough preamps built in.
 
Most interfaces these days in your budget range include preamps - and whilst you can get separate pres, you're not going to get much worth having if you want both for $500, I'd suggest, although others may have specific recommendations for you.

How many microphones will you need to record at the one time is the question you need to answer for any specific recommendations...

You can safely assume I've pressed my thumb to my nose and wiggled my fingers at you! :)
 
I only want one mic. mainly vocals and some live isntruments
 
Do you have a mic already? You should probably elaborate a bit on what instruments and style of music you are looking to record as well.

And also, watch out for a guy around here named Beck. Ignore anything he says about USB interfaces. Just saying.
