Can anyone suggest a good practice pad? My drums are pretty much permanently in the studio now (can't get over there ALL the time) and I feel my chops slipping a little bit. I've heard RealFeel is good. Any suggestions??

RealFeel are good pads. In particular, I like the fact that they have female threads on the back and can be mounted on a cymbal stand. I have one on a Gibralter "grabber" mounted to my HiHat stand. I can warm up before a gig, and it makes a great tray for holding drinks, brushes, etc.

I also like the Rite-Touch pad by Cappella. They are rubber on one side (like the RealFeel) and "foam" on the back. Two playing surfaces, two different feels. Cappella also make pretty cool adjustable dowel type sticks (kinda copied the "Hot Rod" concept).

Hell, Just get a mousepad! That's what I started using, and it works great for me.

How much money are you talking...?

If you've got around $1000, why don't you go for the Yamaha DTXpress. They're good to practice on and you get grat sounds to boot...!

Tim, the mouse pad idea is very good. Same feel as the "foam" I referenced on the back of the Capella pads.
