hello, i have heard people say that if youre building a computer to get a big power supply. im looking at 300 or 400w right now. why would a bigger one be better? im going to run a digi 002 rack with it. is 300w sufficent?
thanks!

A stable one would be best. Many, if not most computers are fine with a 300W PSU. Whether you plug in a firewire device or not doesn't matter much. It's the CPU and often the videocard that are the biggest power hogs. And upspinning hard drives.

Yea.... I've seen quality 350w PS that have better rail amp specs than a budget 400w.. The total wattage of a PS is rather loose kind like power amplifiers. You just want to make sure the PS that's coming with the case is a decent brand/make. If you're getting a case for less that $50, part of the savings is gonna be a cheaper PS....

give er all she's got scotty ;) that's what my girlfriend says anyway, more is better, heh...

500w wouldn't hurt a thing, if you've the pocket depth that is...
