Can it be? No depressing Pink Floyd soundalikes with lots of profanity?

What the fuck?!?!?!

:D

OK... I wrote and recorded this tune the other night. There's a bunch of guitar tracks and... well, there's about 25 vocal parts layered in the chorus. Too much? lol

Check it out, and I'd love any suggestions on the mix. It sounds a bit harsh, but I didn't toy with eq'ing too much of it yet. Maybe I will... We'll see.

A few people have said it sounds like The Cure, which I can see... Definitely something different for me, either way.

Enjoy!

KaBudokan,

Slick tune. I liked the verse breaks and the whole arrangment has a nice momentum. Good performances, although I don't really care for the vocal delivery, but that is just personal taste.

The chorus really has a full, tight impact. Decidedly catchy.
I'd maybe go with a different ending. The recording was so clean and tight that it didn't seam right to my ear that the song should exit on extraneous notes and string noise (again, that is probably just me).

A very worthwhile listen.

I don't get the blurb about profanity and depressing floyd:confused: But, I don't get many things:)

Peace,
Theron.

That was just a joke about my usual song stylings... lol Nothing important, I just tend to use the word "fuck" a lot, and I record a lot of tunes that sound like Floyd.

The vocals were recorded a few beers into the night... (One of my buddies asked if I was drunk when I recorded them, because it sounds like that. "That bad?" I asked. "Not bad," he said. "Just drunk.")

The ending was out of laziness... :) I heard it and said, That's kinda cool." I might tidy it up later...

Thanks for the feedback and the compliments! :D (I've played my cd's in all the music stores and on the radio and everyone always tells me that they're super sexy and all... Wait, that's someone else's story. Nevermind. ;) )

Fuck!Oops,thats your word!Sorry.;)

This tune works for me.It sounds pretty good right now as a rough mix.Im sure with about 20 minutes of tweaking eq and leveling volumes where you see fit ,this song would sound polished.I really like the Chorus. It has a hook to it.

Really like the slide guitar too.The vocals are cutting through crisp and clear.Good tune.;)

Bump for all you sorry bastards who missed it the first time. :)

Not too bad actually.

It does sound the Cure a bit....hammered.

oh yeah I can hear the cure in this one. What the hell is the name of that guy in the cure??...anyway if him and Rick Nielsen got together I think it would sound something like this. A high quality recording.

I want you to want....me

Good tune-the singer sounds drunk heh. Catchy chorus I like the slides-The drums are a bit buried. I didnt really care for that guitar stutter thing you do in the opening(after the A-E chords?) Recording is decent it has a nice loose feel to it.

actually, a nice catchy tune....even if you're drunk or not..

kinda sounded like a live two track mix, or a 'push fadar' mix. Some polish and the end result would be great....mainly based on the song writing...

Fun song...lots of character! I say leave it as it is, unless you're going for radio play. Otherwise the mix fits the charm perfectly.

yup, hear the alkey-hol

!!! :D

Just a piece of song there, or something... only got 1:54 of it downloaded.

The slide guitar kicks ass. Actually, with all those vox in the chorus, it's more "Midnight Oil" than "The Cure". That guitar figure you use... well... don't really dig that. (the main rhythm guitar. Someone else described it as the A-E ... whatever... kind of like a rhythmic plucking on the 1/8th beat, every 1/4 beat, for two bars... make sense?). That particular guitar has a nice fuzz tone to it, but sounds gutted in the lower mids.

The thing does have a nice hook, and (credit where credit is due) you tie the rhythm guitar into it, and it fits like a glove. Please... tell me if my reviews are too honest, or off, or wrong, or harsh. I'm trying not to kiss ass too much ;) :D

Gonna listen again... see If I can't get the whole song this time ;)

Got it to download after three more tries :( ;) (IE just craps out sometimes, and only gives you a piece of the mp3...)

yep... the songwriting is pretty excellent. Definitely feeling "Midnight Oil" here... with a different singer. A song that will stick in my head! :D

Nice fun song.

Some EQing out of the mids would help, as you've suggested.

I noticed some vocal syncing issues (e.g., at :26, :39, :52).

Nice guitars. The only thing is the stucatto part got a little repetitive after a while. Maybe take that out of a section or two. Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Maybe I'll think about toning the stutter part on the guitar down a touch in the second verse, though... Well, I dunno, that's how the whole song started. :P

TripleM, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "vocal syncing issues"? Are you talking about timing? Are they out of tune?

I just took another two takes of the verse in those layeed parts and panned them hard left and right, running them through a heavy phase effect. They're supposed to sound... well, um... weird. LOL Not necessarily perfect or whatever... Hey.. .I was DRUNK, OK!!! :D Anyway - just let me know what you mean?

Thanks all!

I can dig the vocal. I would push the drums up for sure to get some power under the tune. The slide is a nice touch.
