Power "on" monitors

Just a quick question. I have my Presonus Digimax power supply sitting on top of one of my monitors. Will this cause performance or sound issues to either piece?

I wouldn't put it there. If your monitors are shielded it's probably fine to do so, but I always keep external power supplies as far away from audio lines as possible.

I'd usually concur with SonicAlbert on this point... but in this case it may not hurt. The PS isn't located along the recorded signal path... any noise would probably only be introduced into your monitored signal, if you can't hear it through your monitors, then there's no problem...

But I wouldn't place it there...

I guess this all brings up another question I have then. I have all my rack gear together too and this includes my Alesis RA-100 amp for my monitors. Should this not be "included" or be near my other sound equipment like my Digimax etc. I should probably mention none of this is hooked up yet, so I have not been able to "hear" the effects of any of this. I am just getting together gear and am in the process of building a computer.

mmmm...

With my racks I usually string my audio cables on one side and my power cables up and down the other side...

Then when I put the gear in - I listened to make sure no gear was affecting other gear... I have some older rackmounts that need to be put in a certain way so they don't affect other equipment...

I'd guess the best thing to do is just use your ears...
If you don't hear a buzz - Then your amp should be fine...

Hope this helps...
