Power Mixer/Guitar/Recording

My other guitar partner and myself are about to get the Behringer PMH3000 powered mixer. For recording purposes, we 've done this via our current power mixer PMH2000 with pretty good results.
My question is, in the user manual (PMH3000), there is a picture of a bass & electric guitar hooked up to a V-Amp and the v-amp connected to the mic line in for recording of the bass and guitars.
We both have the Boss ME50 Multi Effects box. There is a combo phone/line out connection at the back. Could we use the ME50 instead of the v-amp? The ME50 line out to the power mixers line in per the manual?
What we did in the past was to mic the amps but the results were not that good. If we could use the ME50, we could avoid more mics, cables etc...

The answer is yes. The Boss can go into one of the mixer's channels, most likely as a line in. If the Boss has an XLR out, then that suggest mike level output which could go into a channel as a mike input.

The ME50 do not have xlr out, just line out. From the mixer's manual, the V-amp goes into the 3rd or 4th line in underneath the XLR in, so I am concluding that I should also do this? is this method for the'gain'?

The ME50, then, has 1/4" output, and you would normally use a guitar lead to go from this to a guitar amp, right?

Instead of going into the amp, you just plug the guitar cable into the 1/4" line-in socket on a channel of the mixer.

You may need to adjust the gain control on the channel, depending on the strength of the signal being delivered by the ME50.

However, that doesn't matter, because the principle is the same.

to answer as simply as possible, yes the ME-50 will replace the v-amp in your example.

The effects unit is functioning as a preamp, you can adjust the volume out to a level that sounds and records well after it gets through the mixer.

Just to make it clear for myself..

The ME50 has an output jack which we plug via cable to the amp.
The ME50 also have a combo phone/line out plug, which looking at the ME50's manual, shows to go to the mixer.
Do I use the output or the line out?

but it doesn't matter

there is no harm in trying both and seeing which gives the best results

except one thing not being mentioned, the me-50 doesn't have an amp/speaker simulator through the line outs, but it does through the headphone output. you might want to use the headphone output (at lowish volume) to get the best tone.
