power issues

I seem to have nasty power issues in my home studio, particularly when I interface my analog set-up and my digital world. for example as soon as I patch my analog board into my digi001 to record there is visible and audible noise, my analog console is not noisy. I have tried ground lifting with no results.
another problem I have is that my midi controler (mackie baby hui)
for protools, puts a terrible noise in my monitors when turned on.

my question is, will a power conditioner help? or do I have bigger issues. and what is that noise the baby hui makes it sounds like aliens in my system?

Don't lift your grounds! That is a serious no-no!

What else is on the circuit? Flourescent lighting? Could also be the compressor from your reefer is causing line noise that the digital stuff just doesn't like. I'd start by turning off your reefer and all fans and see if the problem persists.

After that, I would check your power outlets to be sure you have a solid ground and neutral. Also, be sure all of your computers and mixers/outboard gear are all on the same circuit.

I get clicks and pops through my monitors every time my kids hit the water dispensor on the reefer from the solenoid that controls the water flow. Any motor load will add line noise to your entire system. This includes well/septic pumps, wall and ceiling fans, HVAC, and reefers.

Good luck.

First make sure all gear is plugged into powerstrips orginating from the same wall outlet. Then check your cables to make sure they are working properly.

If you are know how to use a volt/ohm meter you should check to make sure the ground wire on your outlets is actually grounded.
