Hi,
I just joined. I know 0 about technical stuff. I just bought a Korg WP-100 digital piano keyboard that has no power cord or stand or speakers.
Can someone tell me where to get a power cord for the Korg SP-100?
Or - can i just use a 3$ cord from Amazon? On back of keyboard is written: "DC 12 v 500 ma".

Also, how do i find a stand for this instrument? It is very heavy.

And what speakers (not too expensive) should i look for??

I hope this is an appropriate question.
Thank you.

You need more than a power cord, you need a power supply. I don't know what that keyboard origianll y came with, it might have been a "wall wart" or something bigger, a box that sat on the floor with a 120 V AC cord in one side and a DC cable coming out the other, to the keyboard.

You can probably find an all-purpose wall wart at Radio Shack, but you need to be careful to get the right thing. Obviously, you need 12 VDC (that means 12 volts, DC). That spec must match exactly.

The new supply must be capbale of sourcing at least 500 MA (milliamps). More than 500 MA is okay, the keyboard will only draw what it needs.

The polarity is important. If the keyboard has a normal "barrel" connector for power, it could be center-positive or center-negative. There's probably a little picture next to the power jack, like an almost-circle with a dot in the middle, and + and - signs pointing to them. Getting the correct polarity is crucial, having it the wrong way could damage the keyboard.

Finally, the size of the connector matters. Barrel connectors come in many different sizes. If you can find the manual for your keyboard on Korg's website, that might tell you all the specs you need to know. If not, post a picture of the power jack and we might be able to help.

For speakers, you're need something that provides power. If you just want to play it, a stereo with line inputs would do, or even some powered speakers for an MP3 player. If you want to play in a band, you'll need a bigger amplifier, or connect it to the band's PA system. If you want to use it for recording, you might not need any dedicated speakers; instead, hook it dierctly to your recording rig, and monitor it through headphones or studio monitor speakers.

Wow. Thank you, Rich. I understand some of what you wrote. Radio Shack prepared a cord for me after looking at the piano. Now i know to check on the polarity etc. somehow. And the manual is in the box. But you say i need a power supply besides the cord, oy. So far piano is still in my car 'cause i can't lift it out. Slow going this. But am encouraged by your response to my call for help!

It will be easier if I could see pictures of your new Radio Shack cord and the power input jack on the piano. Sadly, I wasn't able to find the manual on line, just manuals for the bigger/newer SP-250. Hopefully, that's "close enough".
