Hi guys, I've done a search but can't find any info relating to power converters on this forum. My question is.....if I were to buy something from the US and have it shipped to Australia (in this case a Digi 001) can I just use one of those power adaptors used by tourists to convert the voltage or do I need to get it changed by a qualified tech?

It depends on the piece. If no one here knows (the info is most likely in the manual) it's worth an email to Digidesign.

Simple stuff like hair dryers can get away with the converter. More complex stuff tends to need something more sophisticated. Some gear has a simple switch to change the voltage, some need a couple jumpers inside moved, some need a special wall wart, and some even have global power supplies which need no mods at all, just a different plug for whatever country it's in.

It's worth getting a definitive answer from someone who knows this specific piece of gear.

Thanks for the replies....I've just emailed Digi CS. Recieved an automated reply stating that they'd be back to me in 3 days. I know it's the holidays but c'mon - this is VERY important stuff lol.

The numbers of Digi 001s are dwindling on ebay and the price of them locally is, well, shall we say theft!

Still getting no lovin' from Digidesign on this question. I've emailed them a couple times but haven't heard back. :(

I might wait till I get the 001 and then make a phone call.
