I built a small studio in my garage and I need some tips on noise reduction. I don't have problems with my PC or mixing desk but some instrument amps hum like crazy.

I borrowed a Furman basic rack mount unit for a few recording sessions and it worked a treat, proving that the stuff coming out of my wall outlets sucks. Problem is the Furman is rackmount and not convenient for my set up. What I need is something stand alone, or better still something I can replace my wall outlets with. Any thoughts out there?

An electrician can make sure what is coming out of the wall outlets is good; and a good thing to get at that. If your outlets aren't grounded properly fixing it at the outlets or at the breaker box is the best solution to what seems to be your problem. It could be something else, but go to home depot and get a wall outlet circuit tester it will tell you if your outlets are wired correctly, that is the best place to start.
