Power amp's not the problem...what is?

Per my earlier post, I went ahead and bought a used replacement for my Hafler TA1100 power amp. Got the new one in the mail today, plugged it in, same distortion. Is it possible that both of my speakers (Event 20/20s) have been blown simultaneously? I don't recall an audio incident large enough to have caused it, but who knows.

Otherwise, I'm a bit stuck as to what the culprit could be. I'm going directly out of my Digi002 Rack into the Hafler, and thence to the 20/20s.

Thoughts?

hey.
sorry i didn't see your original post, but what amount of trouble shooting have you done, and what way is everything wired together at the moment.

you could try some of the following.
try the digi into other speakers/amps/headphone amps (anything) to prove that it's ok

try feeding you power amp and speakers from a different source like a synth/keyboard/different interface/m3p player. (again, anything) to prove that they are ok.

try to prove the each part of the chain is fine by eliminating the others.
is the headphone output on your power amp distorted too, if it has one?

Do you get the same problem if you run the power amp from the digi alternate output, or outputs 3+4?
Even down do your cables.

Sorry if you've already tried all this.

Hope it helps.

Checked headphones, cables, & different outputs, those are fine. Good idea about using a different audio source, though. I'll check that out tonight.
