I'm looking for a power amp to run a pair of Yorkville YSM1p monitors. I'm considering the Crown XLS402 for about $330USD or perhaps the Behringer EP1500 or Alesis RA300 both around the $300USD mark. I notice the Alesis is fanless, how much of an advantage is this, especially considering that I've designed a low noise DAW for the studio I want the power amp to fit into, in other words does the amp get used anytime recording is happening or only during a mix (first real audio studio and new to engineering, sorry for any dopy questions :o ). Thanks.

I'm somewhat of a Bryston fan. Fanatic is more of the word, I guess...

If you can find a used 2B or 2BLP, it'll be well worth the effort.

On the new and low-priced side, the ONLY amps I'd suggest in that price range would be the Hafler TA series.

Your mileage may vary...

Haven't seen any Stewarts on the used sites I've looked at yet but there's been a few Brystons around 15 or so years vintage for about the $300USD mark. Thanks for the tips. :)

I have had a few Stewart amps. They didn't sound bad, but they broke down a lot.

Bryston amps should have a 20 year transferable warranty and sound great.
