Presonus Tube Pre

I've got access to some pretty sweet stuff... but it's not mine..

In house - Rode NT1A or NT1000, Sampson C-Valve, Mogami Gold cable, m-Audio firewire 410, pt m-powered

At my buddies place - RODE NTK or Neumann TLM103 and Chameleon Labs 7602

I've heard good things about the Studio Projects mics... the B1, imparticular..

Pretty simple here. Just get a high end preamp for the front end. Tube pres are good.

Bluebird mic - Avalon 737vt - Digi 003

Vocal booth.

Monster cables...

Sterling Audio ST-55
Roland VS-2000 (using onboard pre's)

Yea...if I could afford better I'd have it - even though the Sterling Audio actually sounds great

Exactly. I wanna save up and put dough into buying one good stereo preamp for keyboards and also record vocals. I'm getting used to my C1 and have learned how to get some great sounds out it. The Adk is a good mic too but i need a better pre to get it to sound like i've heard it sound on one of my friends setup.

AKG Solid Tube sounds pretty good on my voice. Don't have one but I've used it a few times and Like the results.

I've also gotten surprisingly good results with my Marshall V57 with mogami wiring (the sound is a little dark so you have to brighten it with EQ) as well as a GT-67 tube.

thinkin bout savin up for the groove tubes brick or m-audio tampa

And a RCA speaker system for monitors lol can u say bare minimum

That's the thing. Some artist like a certain mic for their voice. So, you might have to experiment.

I just picked up a Trident 4T and a TLM103 very high gain and my recordings sound much better then with a ST55 and an old Aphex 107. The ST55 even sounds killer through this pre-amp.

Recording in my custom vocal booth from DAWBOX plans. I use my larger room for drums and stuff but for tight dry hip hop or voice over work/ harmonies this booth works great for me.

I love the 4T since is has a built in compressor and EQ it is pretty much a channel strip for $999. I have used the Chameleon Labs 7602 and it sounds killer as well super high gain right up in your face. Makes a $200 mic sound like a $1000 mic.

M Audio Luna
Focusrite Trackmaster Pro
Delta 44
8'x8'x9' Vocal Booth

Funny if you bring dollars into the equation though, lol. The Behringer B2 I crosstraded for the Luna sounds sooooo much better than M Audio's "budget" mic.

Neumann TLM-49 or ADK Hamburg or SE Electronics Z5600 to Eisen "neveish" or "APIish" clone to "DBX 160a or RNC or RNLA" to Apogee Rosetta.

:o ;)

The booth is just a sectioned off part of the room I'm using for my studio. The room is pretty big, but marrows off where the closets are. So I took the other part of the room, nailed up acoustic blankets, took MDF and created an artificial wall, cut a window out, put up a sliding door, and BBAAAMMM!! mic booth...Sounds complicated, but took me about 4-5 hours to do everything. I'll shoot up a couple of pics if you want to see. Doesn't look at all professionally made, but does the job nicely.

Yo, WILLZ, how do those ADK mics sound? Caught a few of them on Ebay and wondered.

yea id like to see that cause thats goin be my next upgrade is a booth and im lookin for ideas

I really like the ADK Hamburg. To me it is a mid forward type of sound. Depending on the source (females) the high end tends to get a little silabent sometimes. It is also a little thin sounding compared to other mics in my collection. But that thiness really helps when doubling tracks. I can take two or three takes and make a HUGE sound with it. For the price I think it is a very good selection.
