Magic Bag Of Sounds
20/21, formerly in a ridiculous amount of punk bands since the age of 10. i play bass.

overheads: mxl 990/991 on both sides of the kid (it'll be awful in mono, i'm sure)
snare: gls es57
rack tom 1: es 57
rack tom 2: cad tsm412
floor tom: es57
kick: studio projects b1
soundcraft live8 mixer into a fostex vf16 for the drums, presonus tubepre into echo gina 24/96 interface for the bass stuff.
we made a makeshift tunnel for the kick mic using a chair and heavy blankets, worked out pretty good but it was very dry.
i hate the sound of the bass right now because the strings are very dead and it requires ballsy strings. i double tracked it so you'll hear some inconsistincies (one was distorted and micced on the speaker with a 57, the other is a clean DI). once i get some new strings i'll record the final bass lead and edit everything so the notes match up.
vocals are coming soon, and the little solo at 18 seconds will be super limited with tons of reverb when i do the final mix.
any suggestions? does anything sound cheesy/cheap that i can adjust?
