Thanks everyone
What do I need ?
Yes, a new desk. 4 or 5 feet wide. Planning on placing
the KRK Rokit 6 on each corner, elevated at ear level. Maybe, put a PC monitor up at that level too.
I am thinking of placing the desk where the synth is, and move the synth off to the right wall. I play keyboards mostly right handed.
I want my Pentium 4 PC (XP Pro) + Dual Core Laptop (Vista Home Premum) + a new mixer with USB Audio Interface <considering Tascam US164UF>
I have no guitar amps anymore. Using Zoom G7 direct to PC via USB.
Room treatment. Don't know anything on the topic. I am planning mostly recording guitars and synth direct, but may mic some acoustics. Vocals ... haven't recorded any in years. This may be the area needing something in regard to room treatment.
My basement is 3/4 open L (laundry and furnace rooms take up the other 1/4)
My music area is in the corner of the L, which is 14 X 8, and the long stretch is 32 X 12. The music area is on the back wall, rather than on the smallest wall, where the furnace, plumbing, laundry & noise are.
Lighting is flourescent
What gear do I have ?
- Pentium 4 512RAM has SB Audigy 2 ZS with no midi interface, but has SPDIF Out
- Laptop 1.5GHZ Dual Core 2.5 GB RAM has EMU XMIDI 2X2, Behringer UFO202 RCA Stereo to USB Audio Interface <temp solution>
- KRK Rokit 6 mkII
- Roland D-70 Super LA synth (MIDI capable but not GM mapable)
- Yamaha MTX3 4 track cassette Studio, which is my "mixer" to either computer.
- ZOOM G7.1ut guitar processor. USB Audio interface
- Shure SM57, Sennheiser 900 mic ... plus a few more POS from over the years, like APEX 915 and Realistic SM58 clone made by Shure
- Art Tube MP
- Sansui 100 watts per channel Class H receiver with Pioneer towers, which I use for live playing in the basement, so I don't blow the KRK. I blew my previous Fried monitors <ironically, I fried the Fried>
I'm open to any suggestions, and hope to work on clearing this clutterred area by Christmas break.
darrin_h2000 ... that's a 1982 Ibanez Blazer Custom modified with various Seymour Duncan pups. Better than a real Strat !
