Anybody have an extra Manual for the 8-track cassette Portastudio? I'm willing to pay for it, even if it's just photocopies.

Manual for 488
Hello!
First question: Which 488? The original, or the 488 mkII? That's important to know. They're not the same.
I have the same problem, but hopefully, it'll be remedied soon. I live in Korea and purchased a slightly used 488 mkII w/o the manual. After doing some inquiring, I found out I can get one from the manuafacturer in Japan. Fortunatley, I have an American friend who happens to live in the same prefecture of Tokyo where the TEAC Corporation's headquarters are, and he speaks some Japanese. He contacted them, confirmed they had the manual, will buy it (must pay in Japanese yen, though) and send me a copy shortly. Compensation? He wants me to send him some of the absolutely scrumptious Korean-style salted seaweed paper. (The Japanese variety is unsalted. Very bland, actually.)
If in fact you also have the mkII, I'd be more than happy to photocopy it and send it to you.

Basically, the 488/s in question operate almost in the same manner. I've had two of them; one now rests in my basement which was replaced by a Yamaha MD8 which was just replaced by the Yam AW2816 with a built in CDRW burner.
I sent my 488 manual to Pirateking; he copied it and returned it.
Remember if you are dubbing tracks with the 488 you have to put a "recorded" track in the CUE mode as you add other tracks. If you don't, you'll lose tracks and get all gummed up. When ready to mix down all of your recorded tracks, take them off CUE, shut down cue volumes and switches. Then, punch in the playback button and set your levels, add reverb where needed and hope you get a winner.
