What is your expectation for how this booth will help you? I mean, are you looking for isolation or treatment?

From the looks of that booth, it's not going to do anything for isolation. It might knock down some stray sound you don't want in your takes, but it just doesn't look very effective for that either, because the foam is too thin. Do you know if the foam is mounted on a refective backer or something that will add some density to the panels?

For $600 plus shipping you could build (if you have some skills and tools) a portable booth that would give you a bit of isolation and tons more treatment than a pice of foam strung across a metal frame.

Click on the tabs at the top of the page to read about absorbers for different apps.

After you read this I think you will conclude that booths made of foam aren't gonna take you where you want to go.

i think it is design to deaden the sound.

nothing PCV piping and packing blankets can't do.

Thanks guys!! Does anyone have information on how to create a good sound booth like the one riley357 mentioned for $600? I have seen some on the net but I was wondering if someone in here has written anything in a dummie vesion.... How to build a professional sound booth for Dummies, something simple to understand. I was thinking about getting the Model 1014 AcoustiKit from Acoustic First for $398 ... http://www.acousticsfirst.com/acoustikit.htm.

Then build a basic room , maybe 5'x5'x7', with double plywood walls adding the AcoustiKit. Need help!!

I have seen some good ideas for ventilation in some of the threads here that I will probably apply.

Nice...

I would think that if cats could put thier heads together they could come up with a great DIY plan for us poor HOMERECORDER DOT COM'rs to all have a nice iso booth.. Sounds like it might help a lot of people if some DIY home pros are down to number crunch a little and work out the details.

That size sounds about right though... I wonder what size would be ideal for the basic building materials anyone can find at HOME DEPOT or something like it. Maybe kind of reducing the cutting construction and all for a average cat to handle... If we can get a set price and size it shouldn't be hard work out smaller and larger designs. A 2 man iso booth is about the middle ground I'd think.

Amazes me the knowledge cats share around here... I hope this is one instance...;)

You don't need to be an expert carpenter to build this stuff. You do need some tools, or access to some tools.

This is very true. I'm just finishing up a (5X6X7h) iso booth that i built at home by my lonely self. i'm not a carpenter, but i figured it out. i'll post the results here when i get a chance. i hope someone could benefit from my experience.
