Portable Recording with Laptop

I've looking for advice on what sort of setup to purchase for portable recording with my Laptop. I've got USB 2.0 or a PCM CIA carbus. I only need a single XLR input line but quality is quite important.

Any recomendations?

Echo Indigo I/O and a decent preamp. You'll be good to go.

What laptop config do you have?

u might want to try soundblaster Extigy or Audigy usb sound cards.
