I am a vocalist and bouzouki player for a recital as part of the Geek festival of Sydney.Other instruments will be piano, flute, Cello, guitar and soprano female singer. The performance will last for about two hours. I wanted to get a high quality digital recording without spending a fortune. I have been researching the following portable recorders. Zoom H4, Olympus LS-10, Tascam DR-1 and Sony PCM D50. Can anybody recommend one of these? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tascam DR-1

Wotcher

I recently bought a Tascam DR-1 to record band rehearsals and I'm delighted with it. Very easy to use and great sound. That said, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to recording, so here's a good review by someone more qualified to share an opinion:

Oh, apparently I can't post a URL till I've made 5 posts or more. OK, I'll try to be sly...

Y'all have fun now.

Thanks Guy, that link to the other forum was great. I think I can put them in some sort of order now. For the application I need the Sony PCM D50 is the best but the most expensive of the four. I think the Olympus LS-10 is the next best followed by the Tascam DR1 and then the Zoom H4. I will probably just go with the Olympus or Tascam. Thanks again!

?

Does anyone else find it odd that this topic was the posters first message, followed by the responders first message, and that both have been members since only April of this year. Promo for the link site or pure coincidence?

That is some funny stuff.

I saw this happen on another site where these guys from another country came pimping their product. Made complete asses of themsleves, and really blew their chances of getting their product sold. It was a pretty specialized item and this was on the biggest online community of users. Idiots.

Genuine

I dont want to turn this forum into a slinging match, however I feel I must respond as my sincerity has been questioned. My request for advice was genuine and I am not affiliated with any other forums or trying to promote any products. I am quite shocked as new member and after my first post I am on the receiving end of such hostility. If this is the way it's going to be on here, I just won't bother in the future. Goodbye.

If you consider that hostility then you should stick to the kitty forum. :p
