Any PT fans out there?

I love the tonal quality of the vocals on just about everything they do. I was wondering if anyone had some insight on crafting that sound.

The harmonies are so nicely blended, almost sounds like one voice. I think I hear some chorus on the voices...I think massive compression too? I dunno.

How can I get that sound?

HUGE Porcupine Tree fan. :D Steven Wilson's my hero.

I can't tell you much about how the vocals are treated, but I have a hunch the answer is "not much," and that Wilson is just that good a singer. That said, I'll certainly be watching this thread.

Amen brother. I agree 100% on Wilson. Like anything every step of the signal chain is important, including the "thing" creating the signal? :) His vocals are hypnotic, and I don't mean to take away from them, but there is something in the mix.

They play live just as well, but the _______ is not there in the live recordings like it is in the studio stuff. It's a sort of presence.
