Hey guys, whats up :)

I have a question, why are there some pop filters that cost $50 and there are some that cost $10 on the same website.. can you get better pop filters? haha.. i thought they were all the same.

I wouldn't go to say they're all "the same" -- Some do work better than others. Some prefer perforated metal, some prefer single-layer nylon, some double (I find double-layer nylon to be the superior choice, but it's also the most easily damaged and dirtied).

Some people make their own with a coat hanger and an old pair of pantyhose! I've got a dual-layer $12 one that does the job.

Some are made better than other, some use nylon screens, others use metal screens, etc. Which work best? it depends on the application.

I started with the gorilla recording standard used panty hose over a coat hanger (avoiding use of the crotch area). I then moved up to panty hose with the round sewing frames. I even tried the flat metal strainers used to strain pans, etc. I finally upgraded to manufactured single layer nylone screens (if for no other reason, it certainly looks more professional than panty hose - I was trying to present a more professional, less gorilla studio image (and I got sick of the tasteless jokes about my wife's panty hose). Recently, I purchased a double layer nylon screen - which to my ears has been the most effective in a wide range of applications.

That all being said - we all have to use what we have and/or what we can afford.
