I was wondering what everybodys preferance was for placing a pop filter?

Lets say your recording vocals 6 inches from a mic.

Do you put the filter 6 inches away and get right up on it or put the filter close to the mic and sing away from it?

Does it make a differance?

Thanks,
Pete

In my experience, you get a full vocal sound by placing the pop filter very close to the mic and singing as close to the mic as you can. If you do backups or just don't want that strong full vocal sound, you can stand a few feet from the mic usually with the pop filter closer to your mouth than the mic.

Mess around and see what sounds best with what you're using.

I'm using the AKG C-3000B.
