has anyone ever tried this as a absorber/diffuser? it has the appearance of sponge toffee. ie. crunchie bar, yellow inside. it is made by firestone and is used as a rigid insulation on building exteriors. it is usually foil backed, but the foil can be peeled off. it comes in all thicknesses.

we have sheets of this stuff at work that has been sitting in a shed for years.

Polyisocyanurate is a closed cell foam, so it wont be very effective as an absorber - especially as higher frequencies. Might be a good material for building diffusors - though I imagine the foam would get pretty banged up unless it's installed away from traffic areas.

I've posted a design for a combination diffusor and broadband slat resonator at the Recording Studio Design Forum that might work well for this material. http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2091&highlight=#2091
