I have one. I've been working on my review of it for... a long time. The truth is, I really dig it so much, that every time I sit down to start working on the review, I get sidetracked playing and recording stuff.

>have you messed with the mic modelers?

Yes. There are models of the Shure SM57, Shure SM57 off-axis, Sennheiser MD421, and Neumann U67.

The SM57 (on-axis) and MD421 models are very usable, and by far the best of the bunch. The 57 off-axis model has waaaaaay too much bass. Putting a mic off axis does increase the bassiness of the sound a little bit in relation to the rest of the fequencies... or more accurately, reduces the highs a little... but in my experience, not this much. The U67 model is almost totally unusable. It sounds like a big cardboard box. Awful. However, having two very good emulated mics instead of the 1 that was on the original POD is nice. And luckily, the xt software can be flash upgraded, so you can download the new software when it comes out and just load it right up. I assume that several things people have really complained about will be fixed in this manner.

You can't.

i was just thinking the other day about what all is in these things. to actually buy all the equipment that this thing models, how much do you think you would be out? $50,000?
