Pod vs. the Gear Box software of the tone port...do the models sound alike? one better than the other?

The gold pack has all the amps and effects that are in the POD XT and some new preamps. It sounds great IMO and is the best deal going right now.

I have a POD 2.0 and the Tone Port - as indicated, the Tone Port is more comparible to the POT XT - but since the POD 2.0 has many of the same sound creation abilities - I would say the Tone Port can reproduce any sound the POD can.

IMO, I've been using toneport ux1 for awhile and I thought the gearbox software wasn't so great, then again i could be wrong.

The amp models should be exactly alike. If you buy the Gear Box Gold from MF for $99.00, it comes with the tone port DI and has every single model that Line 6 has.... it has many more than the Pod Xt live, and the same ones as the Pod X3.
I personally love mine, and have used it on tons of recordings.
