Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have Sonar 2.0. I have a Line6 POD v2.0. I can open the studioware panel provided in Sonar, which is way cool. Looks just like a POD and everything! Now, shouldn't I be able to tweak the controls on the studioware panel and hear the changes I'm making? I can turn the knobs on the POD and see the knobs on the studioware panel moving, so I know it's working in that direction. I have my Yamaha W7 hooked up in the chain also, but I even tried the POD by itself, and I can't hear the changes I'm making. Am I expecting too much? Is studioware supposed to allow real-time changes, or is it more for automation? The manual is not real specific concerning MIDI ports, etc. I also have Sonar Power, but I guess Studioware is just too broad to cover. Any insight would be cool. Thanks

it would sound a lot cooler if I could figure out what's going on! I'm gonna go nuts. I have Emagic's SoundDiver 3.04. Real cool program, and I can use it to edit my POD as well as my W7. What I want to do is, while working in Sonar, if I want to change the sound of my guitar, like maybe lighten the distortion, or add more chorus, etc., I want to be able to open Sound Diver and do it. The problem is with MIDI ports. I can't have 2 programs open at the same time, sharing the same MIDI ports. So, I get to thinkin that I should be able to use Studioware to do this, and so far it ain't happenin! That's kinda my original question. Shouldn't I be able to manipulate my POD with Studioware? I think so!! If anyone can help, I'll owe you one!

It is Easy

let's keep this up. It sounds very cool
I have a soundblaster Live audio card, It has two midi outputs. On the MIDI options on Sonar, disable one of the outputs, and use that output in your Emagic setting. You should have no problem-

I only have one MIDI in and one MIDI out. That's kinda where I'm screwed. Until I get a MIDI patch bay, or an interface with multiple ins and outs, I'm just stuck swapping cables between my MIDI devices. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Ed,
I do not own a POD, but it sounds to me that you are having the universal problem of running multiple devices off of one midi port. By default, midi drivers cannot be shared, i.e. Sonar is using midi port from the sblive and you also have sounddiver which wants to use the midi port driver to edit the POD.

I can't help you with the studioware panel not working, but I think I can at least help you with getting Sonar and SoundDiver to share the midi port. Try using a program called Hubi's Midi loopback driver. It installs a new driver on your machine that allows you to share the sblive's midi port with different programs.

you can findt Hubi's here
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Hubis_LoopBack_device/

and a pretty good tutorial on using it here

Hope ya get it working :)
