OK, I posted this on the percussion forum, but no one there seems to want to chime in. A buddy and I are hosting a series of PodCasts about drums, drumming and drummers with some major artists.

The first one is Wednesday Aug 24th with Dave Weckl. Does anyone have any questions for Dave they have always wanted to ask?

I know this isn't a 'live event' but its kind of like a radio show you play whenever you want. I am hoping people will have some interesting questions. The users on the drum board don't seem to be the type who listen to Jazz.

Next one will probably be with Simon Phillips.

Anybody?

I have a question for you and not Dave.

Can we get mp3's of the show for us anti IPod/Itunes people.

Wow! Very cool. Both those guys are sick drummers, absolutely world-class.

I have questions for both you and Dave.

How do I listen? I have only a vague idea what a podcast is.

For Dave, after my deepest respects:

It seems to me that people who grew up playing jazz have a strong sense of the importance of education and the tradition of passing on what they know, more so than many rockers. And drummer jokes not withstanding, drummers seem to lead the pack. You seem to be one of a handful of "serious" musicians in the public eye who advocate this strongly and regularly. I read the piece on Drummer's world which seemed to say you still teach to this day, something I find amazing, as you could have given it up long ago.

Could you talk about some of your important early influences, some of the things they taught you, and how you came to be such a personal advocate of education? Do you still teach? What is next for you?

ps- can you teach me how to play the drums?

:D

I'd really like the opportunity to listen as well. How`s it done?

Hey guys! Sorry, I didn't get all of these before I left for Dave's house. Needless to say, we covered more than I thought we would. Details in the Drum forum under "A heads up" thread!

All you need to listen is a copy of iTunes, available from Apples website for free on both Mac and Windows.

I may post direct links to the files once they are on my server.

seems there is a lot of stuff availible on podcast. Looks like a great medium to host your stuff as well.

most "podcasts" are actually MP3. however it takes an elitist sinister mind that would make the transfer become AAIF. i work with a mac nutcase and he uses his powerbook to record the podcasts....before i they go online, i change them from AAIF to MP3. please note that I'm not talking about using Itunes for the internet transfer but I'm talking about podcasts on a website that are strictly AAIF
