This may be in the wrong fourm (as I am a n00b and it feels like a noobish question) so if it is I apologize.
I love vintage gear and recently I was lucky enough to aquire box of assorted old gear. There was alot of crap, a bunch of old coards a cool looking EelectroVoice 664 in there and litteraly like 25 ElectroVoice 660's :p. There were also 2 Electrovoice 635A's and a Unidyne III 545D (all 3 mics in excellent condition) which was pretty cool. One mic that reamins a mystery to me though is a (Pearl) PML DC-96.
I have tried looking for info on this mic and i've come up with nothing. Can anyone share some wisdom and fill me in on what exactly this is?

I haven't tried the thing yet but I think it's a condenser and becasue there's no place for a battery I assume it's phantom powered, but i uess i coudl be totaly wrong on this. Can anyone help me out?

???

Post some pictures of it. You can probably take it apart too. If there's a non-working circuit stacked on top of a working circuit, you might just be a redneck.

I mean... condenser.

I thought of taking it apart but there lies another issue: I can't. The thing is built like a little tank and the tiny screws that secure then xlr jack wont even begin to budge. I'll post som epics of it later on though, just as soon as I find my camera.

I did take pictures and was gogin to post them but now my camera is hiding from me.
I did however find out that the PML DC-96 is a 1960s large diaphragm condenser.
I know I'll probably get flack for asking this but can anyone recomend a good application for this mic? I'm kinda new to the whole types of microphone thing. For years i'd just stick a Sm57 or 58 in front of something.
After finally getting somethign with phantom power I can plug the mic into I've found that it sounds fairly nice (I'm horrible at describing mic sounds)
So yeah, can anyone tell me some good aplications for a vintage large diaphragm condenser?
