Bored of Canada
Ive just started using a computer to record. In cubase le5. And well now I want to learn about the best part of DAWS-plug ins. I dont really know any, but wonder if any of you fine people can recommend some free ones to get my feet wet with :D . Compression, reverb, delay, drum trigger stuff, any thing else useful?

So Cubase LE5 doesn't come with any plug ins?

Man, I love it.
Just monitoring the inputs through it, I notice the upped quality.
My Rokit 6's came in today and I'm monitoring through them right now
:D

They're way too awesome.
Just ridiculousness.
I've familiarized myself with the interface, and am doing so with the monitors now.
I'll probably give them a few day break in period(...aka- an excuse to spend days listening to music at a br00tal quality through them)
Then I'll probably start recording some random demos into Cubase to start figuring it out.

You and Jimmy were spot on with the recommendations.

Density MKII is by far the best sounding, free compressor I have heard. At times I like it better than the Waves API 2500, that is not even close to free. :D

I like the density mkii also, but i use the modern stuff more just cause I am used to it. the more plug-ins i get and use and learn about, the more I seem to find that less is more. if I find myself using a ton of plug-ins I am usually trying to fix something that really needs to be re-recorded.

although many are absolutely required, like compressors for vocals and drums... I guess it's all about balance - there are a ton of great free plug-ins though - I have never bought a plug-in effect, just use free ones.
