EddieRay - You have to register them with your VST adapter (I use Cakewalk VST Adapter v4.3.1 - I think Directixer 2.5 works too) then depending on your audio app you may have to refresh the effects list - Cool Edit makes you do that - Sonar doesn't.

What is a VST adapter? How do I get one? Is is strictly an alternative to DirectX? Is it better?

BTW, I'm also a Cakewalk user. I did manage to find a DirectX-based compressor in something called VBStripTool.
