I started in the mid 70's with a 4 track Tascam, 8 track Fostex, late 80's Steinberg 24 on an Atari an dso on. For the last few years I've been using Soundblaster cards with Cakewalk products and got some amazing results. More recently I bought a Focusrite Saffire and SONAR recording software.
I play in a 5 piece hard rock band and we want a modern setup in our recording studio and we can get rid of a 24 track Fostex digital recorder and Behringer DDX3216 desk.
We need to get as many tracks as possible recorded onto SONAR in one go (7 drums, bass, two guitars) but 8 would do if its too expensive.
I have a P4 3.6 in the house which is great for what I do but what would you recommend now?
Which external desk would you recommend to get those instruments into SONAR?
Can the Behringer DDX3216 be adapted to send 8 instruments to 8 different tracks?
Thanks for any advise.
