- Great voice, classic or prog rock vibe to it...recorded well also
- that snare is not doing it for me. Too much like a tom. Personal taste. Rest of the drum mix is great
- guitar sounds like Doobies - Gibson ? I like the solo - tasty...
- harmonies are equally right on...bass too
- I like the song writing/vibe overall also.

Definitely radio mix here other than the tone of the snare I think this is pretty sweet...

:D:):D:):D

Hi,

Good mix !

Needs just a little adjustment!
The mix is too midheavy and lacks some high- and lowend, other than that its pretty fine.
Fix it in the mix.

I made an A/B file to show you what I mean.
It starts after 26 seconds.

Yes... the snare is way too boingy sounding. That can be tightened up with some eq and compression. The guitar sounds nice... good mix.

I really like this but the snare is still not quite right for my ears. I like a fairly tight snare sound that doesn't ring. Your snare is almost a tom like sound. At some places in the mix, it works, but when the snare is prominent it doesn't.

Here is an idea... Try placing a very quick fade on each snare hit tail to eliminate the boing factor. Or... use something like Drumagog and replace the snare sound entirely.

This is very good...

snare

where you listening to the first mix or the last mix, the last mix has the snare fixed, hmm I feel like Dr. Suess!!!

No offense, but it sounds way better before the 26 second point IMO.

Anyway, the whole song link isn't working for me...

Hey... I took my grandson to see "Horton Hears a Hoo" last Saturday. :D

I am listening to the one dated today. I went back and listened to the first one too. It is improved, but still not there. It almost sounds like the drummer was using it sans snare. Personally, I prefer a dry, short snappy snare. This is still very boingy... tom like, ringing.

This track is really quite good in all other respects. Since I've played drums since about age 8, I'm really picky on drum sounds.

Interesting drum sounds. I don't hate it, but it's a little too timbale-like for me.

I love your voice. I have a feeling Nakatira will really like this song.

Snare

Thanks for the input guys, yeah our drummer likes a big piiiing or boing on all his snares, lesson learned for next time. To be honest though I'm not a big fan of the pen hitting a piece of paper type snare either, although it might have worked for this song. If anyone can point out something other than the snare please let me know, I think I'm gonna stick a fork in this one

the fixed mix is better - much better but the snare still sounds "elastic". It's good to be different but the snare sound is such a ppint of difference I couldn't focus on the rets of the 1st mix & it's gets that way in the quieter passages of the subsequent mix - esp when the vox aren't occupying some of the same space.
If it's mic'd sep'ly you could use that snare track to trigger a sample to demonstrate to the drumeer the difference.
Oh, good work, good song, good mix, good performances otherwise!
