After a long abscense, I want to get back into recording on my PC. I've got a fairly new PC that should be good enough (1.8GHZ P4, 1 GB RAM, Win XP Pro, 80 GB drive) and I still have my original software (Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0).
Eventually, I'd like to get something that will allow 4 or more simaltaneous tracks to be recorded and have an interface for mixing purposes, but at this point, I just need the bare minimum to get me by (2 tracks at once, no interface). Cost is an issue, and since this isn't a permanent solution, I can live with something that isn't perfect or loaded with features.
Here's a few that I pulled up on Musician's Friend:
M-Audio Delta 410 PCI Recording System
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card
Edirol UA-1A USB Audio Interface
Echo Mia
I've had a bad experience with an M-Audio product in the past, but I might be willing to give them another try.
Any opinions, suggestions, comments or other recommendations?
Also, should I avoid USB? Or will it be adequate for my needs?
