if price is your concern be sure to check out the roland jv1010 - it´s got lots of good sound(s) for the money and is quite a good allrounder! i´m not that fond of it´s drumsets, but that´s my opinion/taste!
sorry, can´t say much about the emu modules though ... there´s just one thing coming to my mind right now - emu have a lower priced anniversary model of it´s proteus module out (i think it´s called proteus 1000, don´t know for sure) - maybe you should give it a listen too?!
