Hey, pierrot.

I have a TASCAM US122:

I picked it because I wanted phantom powered mic pres and 24 bit cabability. I had no trouble with the USB; YMMV. If I could have spent more, the next choice would have been the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96, then the Q10, then the RME Multiface.

I used it to record this:

Please give it a listen and post a comment there.

Hope this helps.

There is no good reason to buy a USB interface if you're using a desktop PC.

You sacrifice too much in terms of bandwidth and overall reliability with a USB interface and pay more than a similar PCI card counterpart.

Is there a PCI based two channel 24 bit soundcard with phantom powered mic pres for under $200?

cheers everyone

Thanks for the advice, the problem i was having was isolating the vocals. I think the m- audio looks the best bet. If youre wondering what im recording its re makes of the songs on my site ,please have a listen give me your review.

Yep. Pick up an Audiophile for $149 and an ART Tube mic preamp for $49. Hell, going with an Audiobuddy for $99 would probably give you a better sound than the build in preamp on the 122.

Hey, brzilian.

Sorry 'bout gettin' kinda snippy yesterday. Do you really think the US122 preamps are that bad?

Thanks,

Have contacted a retailers today and they said a terratec or a midi man would do the trick. Has anyone got any views on these 2 products.
