I'm new to recording and can't find a soundcard to hook up my TASCAM 788 to the computer. I have the recordings all set and mastered on the 788, all I want to do is transfer the songs to the computer so they can be burned on my CD burner. Is it possible to save the 788 material as like a wav file? The 788 has a coax S/PDIF connection, so I need a soundcard with that connection, any suggestions on what soundcard is the best?

Thanks!

A simple GINA will do the trick. If they are already at 16 bit, then you can save some dough by buying an older GINA.

When you transfer the files you will be using some recording app and simply setting the source for GINA S/PDIF in instead of the analog ins. When you stop recording you will have created a .wav file which can be directly burned to CDR if your sample rate is at 44.1KHz and sample size is 16 bits.

Ok, so a GINA is a piece of hardware right? Whats a good software package to use? I'm not looking for anything special, just something that will get the job done.
